Background

I am grateful that for over the past 13 years I have had opportunities to work and learn with students from a wide variety of backgrounds and age groups.  I interned and completed my student teaching  at an inner city charter school, in upstate NY, for 5th and 6th grades.  I have also taught in Kindergarten and 3rd grade classrooms for long term leaves, and had my own first grade classroom for 3 years before I began teaching Title 1 Reading.  This is my 4th year at Thorpe and my 5th year in the Danvers School district.

I have always loved reading and have been fascinated by the steps students have to go through to learn to read.   I am passionate about helping your children learn to read and and showing them how to  "break the code".  Watching students gain pride and confidence in something that was challenging them is truly rewarding.  I do my best to find ways to make acquiring new skills fun.  For the students I work with, I aim to excite them about reading, encourage them through their struggles, and celebrate their successes.  I look forward to getting to know your children and helping them grow through reading.
